Where does my money go?
As women, we are not only concerned with our own health, but also that of our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and children.
The research we fund aims to progress knowledge, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease in all Australians. Whether you are young or old, woman or man, child, teenager or grandparent, the 208 research projects we are funding across the country are looking into something that will one day benefit us all.
Some of the projects that are looking into heart health for women include:
Cardiovascular risk in women with gestational diabetes.
Gender differences in heart disease.
Associations between physical activity and risk of depression in socio-economically disadvantaged women.
The effects of exercise on women aged 65 to 74 years.
Other projects look at a variety of other heart health topics including:
The relationship between salt and blood pressure in children and how this leads to obesity.
How an eye examination can be used as a technique for diagnosing heart disease.
The effect of ambulance based diagnosis on heart attack outcome.
So rest assured that we are not only looking to improve the lives of those who are currently suffering from heart, stroke and blood diseases, we are also looking to improve the heart health of future generations. However, we cannot continue to support the highest quality research without the generous donations of the Australian public.
